Let's See If I Waited Long Enough
Hello.
This is basically a trial to see if blogger is working again, finally. It really had better be since I feel like I've waited like 3 weeks.
In other news, it appears that we of the OMGJ Blogs are coming to the end of an era. Jeremy hasn't blogged since the beginning of May. XV is in a "hey everyone I've disappeared" phase. Mark is, well.. Mark. Trev is probably too annoyed/horrified by the amount of Comments left on his last entry to try again anytime soon. And I am almost the same.
It's all well and good to get comments on blogs when they are fun to read. But I really don't care for having to pick through a bunch of sort of embarassing-and-painful-to-read comments in order to find the ones that are sincere and not some bizarre act. If I wanted to do that, I'd go to an Internet Forum, you know? And I'd rather not turn OFF comments because that's just boring. And I don't want to have to selectively delete comments, as that takes effort. So people are commenting and other people aren't wanting to make comments as a result and I am not really feeling like dealing with that scene.
Is this the END of the Octoblog? We will have to see.
Also, creating a new blog and posting there to avoid people would be pointless since I am doing this blog for OMGJ and not so that I can have a place to express myself private-publicly.

Let's also add to the fact that blogger is still not functioning properly for me, so I have to make the first Comment in order for it to even be visible. Whooo!
This is a sad day... Oh well, you'll always have MySpace.

Farewell

I think you're speaking a bit too soon, here. There was one isolated incident in Trev's blog where things got out of hand, but in honesty I believe that is only a result of not seeing anything new on this site for a veritable amount of time.
Provided people begin seeing some real updates, they won't have to look to and overcrowd the blogs instead.
I'm not even sure that the blogs are a good idea though. No one seems keen to keep writing in them, really. And the overcrowded comments were annoying, yes, but hardly the main reason that I have made this entry. I'd say most of all it is the lack of use, and then the frustration I get from blogger having constant errors for reasons unknown.
I suppose I don't really care in any direction in the end.
I have heard we may be Starting Over at this site anyway, and when that happens, the blogs might not even be a feature anymore. So I guess we will have to see.
Ah, in that case I'm inclined to agree, it's hardly a secret that you guys have been forcing yourself to write. Perhaps instead you might feature something of a "temp" section, where shorter and more unpolished articles may go? Some sort of "collective blog" with no particular deadlines.
For it's not as though there have never been any good entries, but I'm sure it's easier for you guys than to have to stretch it into a fully presented piece.
You guys could easily do a group blog, with each poster having their own names, like we have at Clapboard. That way no one has to bear the full brunt... However, I am sure that, ultimately, it would fall to you, unless you GET FIRM about it.
Or you could just open it up to more than just the core writers and allow guest posts. I blog enough for nine people, anyway...
You know, I think that Jeremy did have that idea once. And I think we were going to go ahead with it. But, as you can see, it isn't at all happening.
I'm not sure why that one fell through. Maybe we can try to get him to try it again.
Do. One blog is better than separate ones, as each person can take a turn updating it once a week or month. Also, you guys could try specifying content. Like make the blog about reviews of things out and about, or short reactions to news items, etc. That stuff is easy to write about.
Or use it to sum up forum gossip and activity!
Giving public nods to Forum Gossip would cause those kids to be STARS. Stars of SORROW.
Hey! They might actually read the front page then!
You remember that story with with you and Jeremy and the good waiter and the... err... not good waiter. I found that very interesting. Especially XV's comments.
I think a group blog would be easier to write and more entertaining. Truth is, it's better than nothing (which is what we have now {other than your blog}).

It may be a low point in the history of OMGJ if my blog has become the only attraction.
you've waited forever it seems.
I forgot I had the blog until this email notification popped up.
Yes, it seems that we no longer have blogs on the main page so I guess this is over?
I'll see what I can do.
